Pelt is a series of etchings where garments are appropriated as metaphors for the aging body. Skin-like yet insubstantial, they evoke a sense of vulnerability and the disempowering effects of old age.

About the Artist

Maeve Coulter trained as a printmaker in the Limerick School of Art and Design and in 1997 graduated with first class honours in fine art. In the following year, while studying for a Diploma in Art Education, she was first introduced to textiles as a fine art medium. She now works in both disciplines often combining print with fabric and stitch.

She is a founding member and Director of Blackstack Studio, a fine art print studio in Kilkenny City which currently facilitates 12 printmakers from the southeast region. She also tutors printmaking in Grennan Mill Craft School in Thomastown, Kilkenny
